Job: Senior Project Engineer
Department: Engineering

Can you tell us what you do at BRIDON International Ltd.?
I am involved in the design and development of plant and equipment in use at BRIDON sites. I am responsible for managing engineering projects, ensuring that work is done in accordance with the timescales set and within budget. I am also responsible for co-ordinating teams of engineers, contract draughtsmen and specialist consultants where required. I also co-ordinate on-site installation & commissioning activities, and regularly liaise with manufacturing teams and external suppliers to identify and solve engineering problems.
What do you enjoy most about working at BRIDON, and about your job in particular?
Within my job, I enjoy using 3D simulation where I can design and model machinery in a virtual world, & then I enjoy getting them transformed into reality by manufacturing them. The responsibility I have within my job is great; I have been responsible for projects to the tune of £350,000 all the way from the design stage to manufacture. I enjoy being involved in projects which focus on improving the productivity of the plant and becoming ‘greener’ as an organisation. I also enjoy travelling to the different countries in which BRIDON operates and working for the various parts of the BRIDON Group.
What made you want to work for BRIDON, how long have you worked for the Company, and how did you start?
I joined BRIDON in the summer of 2008 having completed a Masters at the University of Sheffield. I wanted to work for BRIDON because the job responsibilities are varied and it is more hands-on. I get varied experience by working for various divisions of BRIDON namely UK and China. Every project is different in terms of design, procurement, installation, commissioning and budget. People in the department are very helpful and willing to transfer the knowledge and experience gained in this specialist industry. The working hours are flexible too which helps to manage personal life and work better.
What would you say to a potential future employee about BRIDON and the development opportunities available for people wanting to aspire to a similar position as yourself?
BRIDON has many various divisions across the globe and provides dynamic career profiles and different career paths. If you want to see your ideas engineered into reality and fully operational you can definitely achieve this if you join the BRIDON group. BRIDON also helps engineers to get the coveted "Chartered Engineer" status which every Engineer looks to add to his or her name. There is more to wire and rope than we normally think and I am learning all this at BRIDON, the market leader in manufacturing Wires and Ropes.
